Big Doin's!

Who Do You Trust?
Me, that's who!

Thanks to Gary Sella for the "Skrull makeover"!

First off, I'm proud to say I'm now officially the new inker of DC Comics' cosmic fan-favorite, GREEN LANTERN CORPS! After pinch-hitting on and off on the book the past six months, I was offered the gig when Prentis Rollins moved onto Justice Society of America. I'll miss Gen13 and working with Wildstorm, but I'm glad to still be in the DC "family". Pat Gleason is staying on board as penciller as is Pete Tomasi as writer and, as anybody who follows the fan press knows, there's a lot of intense things on the horizon this year in both GLC and Green Lantern as well! My first full issue will be #25, and the GLC will never be the same again (well, never inked the same way again, I guess. Okay, I actually I won't be making a drastic stylistic change either-I'm just hyping!!)!

Before getting to my Megacon photo parade, there's another announcement:

For you inking enthusiasts (and seriously, who isn't?), the

are here!!!! Inker Bob Almond has initiated a new comics movement and website that's well-concieved and well-designed. The following press release pretty much says it all.

*THE INKWELL AWARDS* are an all new, exciting award set up to celebrate the often overlooked and underappreciated artistry of inking within the comic book industry. THE INKWELL AWARDS have been established and overseen by a number of professionals from all aspects of the comic book industry, including such artists as award founder *Bob Almond* (/Black Panther/, /Annihilation: Conquest-Quasar/, /Warlock/), *Tim Townsend* (/Uncanny X-Men/, /The Amazing Spider-Man/, /Civil War/), *James Tournas* (/Full Moon Craze/, /Shylock/, /Epoch/) along with* Bill Nichols* (/Sketch /magazine) and *Daniel Best* (/Andru & Esposito: Partners For Life/) and fully supported by *Adam Hughes* (/Tomb Raider, Justice League, Wonder Woman, All Star Wonder Woman/) along with senior DC Editor *Mike Marts *(/Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, Wolverine, All Star Wonder Woman/).

Voting starts April 1st and ends May 30th. Results will be announced on the official web-site (http://www.inkwellawards.com) with further information on the first of July 2008. The web-site will also feature biographies and commentary about potential nominees, inkers of note and the role of inking throughout comic book history. There will be awards for favourite inker, embellisher and many others, along with a hall of fame award named after industry legend Joe Sinnott. These awards will be voted up by both the public and industry peers with physical trophies which will be awarded to the winners (or families in the case of a posthumous award) and the results posted on the site.
Pretty impressive, eh? Finally, I want to share some photos from my weekend at Orlando's Megacon
And while you're at it, check out the two new Pat Olliffe pieces on Commission Page 11! Goodnight, all!
